  1. What stands out to you in the passage?

  2. What do you think the “thorn in the flesh” of Paul was? How could this thorn keep him from being conceited?

  3. What does it mean that God’s power is made perfect in weakness? How could Paul say that he is content with all weakness and hardship he endures?

APPLY

  1. How does Paul’s approach to weakness challenge our societal perspective on success and strength?

  2. What are practical ways in which we can remember the sufficiency of the grace of God and the power of Christ in the midst of our weaknesses?

  3. Think of a current “thorn” in your life that God has not removed despite your prayers for him to do so. How is Jesus meeting with you regularly in those places of weakness? And is there value in considering the purpose of the thorn remaining with you today?
