What stands out to you in the text?
What was Daniel’s response to the King’s edict? Why do you think Daniel prayed with his windows open toward Jerusalem?
What was King Darius’ motivation for throwing Daniel in the lion’s den?
Why do you think God spared Daniel from the lions? What does this say about God?
APPLY
a. What is faith?
b. How does trusting God affect how we behave?
Daniel remained devoted to God through his spiritual practices even when it became inconvenient and dangerous. Why is it important to pray, meditate on Scripture, practice sabbath, etc. as our lives become busier and the world seems more “hostile” toward Jesus?
Daniel 6 is a story of the relationship between human agency and God’s sovereignty, or put another way: human faithfulness toward God and God’s faithfulness toward His people. How can we grow in trusting God’s sovereignty and faithfulness while taking tangible acts of faith? How does the person and work of Jesus help us to do both?
PRAY
Pray for greater faith in Jesus
Pray for the needs of each other and for our city
