  1. What stands out to you in the texts?

  2. How did the Jewish people “search the scriptures for eternal life?” Why do you think they resisted Jesus as the one the scriptures bore witness to?

  3. In Luke 24, the two men on the road had heard that the tomb of Jesus was empty, but were dismayed because they struggled to believe Jesus had actually risen from the dead. Jesus confronts their unbelief by interpreting the scriptures for them. Why do you think He did this?

APPLY

  1. How does The Bible point us to Jesus? What are some helpful ways to read and interpret scripture in light of Jesus’ coming?

  2. Jesus spends time with the two men and breaks bread with them. It is then that their eyes were opened and they recalled how their hearts burned within them when Jesus opened the scriptures with them. How does the experience of being in the loving presence of Jesus help illuminate the scriptures for us and show us who He truly is? What might it look like for our hearts to burn for Jesus as we meet with Him?
